Joseph M. Lary, Ph.D.
 
Joseph M. Lary retired from the National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in 2001 after a 30-year career as a research biologist, toxicologist, epidemiologist, and research grants officer. Dr. Lary served as a Commissioned Officer in the U.S. Public Health Service, taught at the School of Medicine and the School of Public Health at the University of Cincinnati, and was a research advisor to doctoral students in the Department of Anatomy at the University of Cincinnati. He was also a postdoctoral research advisor for the National Research Council of the National Academy of Sciences. Dr. Lary is internationally recognized as an expert on birth defects and on health effects of radio-frequency and microwave radiation. He has published numerous scientific articles and has served as a peer reviewer for more than 20 scientific and medical journals. Dr. Lary was elected to the International Board of Directors of the Bioelectromagnetics Society, and he has served on numerous committees and expert panels for the CDC, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the National Institutes of Health, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the World Health Organization, and other scientific and medical organizations.
